As "National Soul Food Month" descends upon us here at the G Pen offices, the crew moseyed down to a transplant eatery new to California, Sweet Chick.
Originally based in NYC, they recently opened up their fourth location in the heart of West Hollywood on Fairfax.
With a specialty of chicken and waffles, they proclaim to serve "cuisine with a Southern accent: rustic but modern American comfort food and twists on classic dishes and cocktails, plus home-baked desserts that will make you feel like a kid again."
Although we've heard great things about their dinner selection, we were stoked to try their weekday brunch menu.
For those that don't normally mess with cabbage, the coleslaw was smackin'.
The Everything Bagel Waffle was a huge hit. Can't go wrong with cream cheese & lox.
We had to sample the classic Chicken and Waffles.
The level of indulgence was at an all time high.
Amongst all the delicacies offered, the Sweet Chick Waffle was the best way to cap off the feast, topped with fresh fruit, ricotta and drizzled with honey.
Huge thanks to Sweet Chick for the hospitality. Today was a phenomenal!
Be sure to stop by for a bite & drink.
