One of our favorite artists has a new exhibition at the Corey Helford Gallery.
Ron English, renowned street artist and pop surrealism pioneer, premiered his latest collection "TOYBOX: America in the Visuals" earlier this month.
"'Toybox' deconstructs the search for new meaning in a culture that is based as much on the imagination of its participants as on the physical realities these human concepts are played against. The toy based childhood imagination aesthetic of the work allows for a playful new look at a society in the throes of reinventing itself."
The collection was created around 36 oil canvas paintings, and features sculptures, installations, toys and even music from a new character, DJ Popaganda.
The images in "Delusionville" feel like the fruits of a satirical savant, lifted off a G Pen hit and nose deep in a Noam Chomsky book, upending a childhood universe by blending classic cartoons with monsters out of a Guillermo Del Torro film.
