It's a rarity to disconnect from screens and society, let alone adventure into the wild for a canoe trip. The Boundary Water Canoe Area is a protected wilderness in Superior National Forest, just west of Lake Superior bordering Minnesota and Canada, a perfect setting for an epic voyage.

This fall, G LIFE was fortunate enough to journey into the BWCA with a few friends to see the leaves changing color, fish the open waters, and rejuvenate our spirits. It is one of the few places left one can witness starry nights not affected by light pollution, and breathe crisp air that is hundreds of miles from civilization.

Over the span of five days we carried our canoes and supplies (and G Pens) over ten miles of portage trails, paddled through twelve lakes and survived without any electronics other than our cameras and flashlights.
